Meet the KATZ

Seattle/Tacoma native Dean Weaver is at the center of the KATZ line up. Weaver, an accomplished lead vocalist and 25 year veteran, is the band’s second lead guitarist. Local credits of note include Northwest Radio Station KZOK’s House Band, Most Wanted, and Union Bay with drummer Dan Moss. Dean’s smooth vocals and boyish charm provide a solid foundation for the Rhythm Katz three-part harmonies.

David Brian Erwin, an aggressive lead vocalist and bass player, has devoted 25 years to his musical career, including 10 years in the Reno / Lake Tahoe entertainment market. As an acoustic performer, he has opened club engagements for such artists as Elvis Bishop, Pat Travers, Canned Heat, New Riders of the Purple Sage, and Lydia Pence and Cold Blood. David’s powerful and dramatic vocal style is second to none. Now a resident of the Tacoma area, David continues to do solo appearances.
Jeff Johnston, on lead guitar, is the most recent addition to the KATZ. He is a 30 year veteran of the Seattle music scene. His lead vocals complete the dynamic harmonies that make the Katz so unique. Jeff has played with bands including Oz, Taurus, Jaugernaut, Atlantis, Big Happy with drummer Dan Moss, Whiskey Creek, and original projects such as Switchback and Bullitt County. Jeff has opened for national acts such as The Romantics, Ted Nugent, the Tubes, and John Waite. His guitar riffs and on-stage antics are true crowd pleasers.
